How do i know god gave me an answer?

I need help i have never known when god has answered me or not my mother is still paralyzed from waste down sense she was 31 and she is now 41 i even asked why didnt he stop the car from rolling ive asked alot still no answer after 10 long years of prayer and grief of from when i was 8 had to jump from a little child into a grown man because i had to protect my brother and mom from him for 5 years i took all the beatings so he wouldnt lay a hand on them im 18 im on the verge of giving up even tho my mom and my brother are safe from him now i really need to be able to know how to know when god answers your prayer. Please help me i need it.
